Article 5 of Law No 91/92 provides that a foreign or stateless national who is married to an Italian citizen may acquire Italian citizenship when, after his marriage, he has been legally resident in Italy for at least two years, or three years after the date of the marriage if you are resident abroad if, at the time of the adoption of the decree granting citizenship, there has been no dissolution, the annulment or termination of the civil effects of the marriage and there is no legal separation of the spouses.
